Chocaholics at the Curzon |
| Full of vim and
verve, this was a great little production where all were
word perfect and audible and there was (plenty)
of invention. in fact we looked for the special effects
maestro in the programme, but it was all a team effort
and even on the first night nothing went wrong with
Augustus Gloop's (Amber Mosdell) disappearance up the
chocolate pipe, the great glass Elevator, the Nut Room
furnace or the magic in the chocovision testing room. This extremely popular story is well known and The Young Theatre gave it a colourful intrepetation ... Inventive backdrops and costumes added to the fun. ... a cast (which) worked well under director Laurence Markham ... Charlie Bucket (Ben Sansum) was outstanding ... small parts were well drawn and the cast did full justice to the roles which gave plenty of scope for characterisation ... Willy Wonka (Lis Brownbill), the factory owner in stove pipe hat, kept the action together |
